Welcome to The Firth of Clyde Walks website!
This website is a guide to some popular, and also some obscure, scenic walks alongside and near the Firth of Clyde. This vast marine geographical feature dominates the southwest region of Scotland. The Clyde becomes tidal in the centre of Glasgow, and arguably becomes a firth beyond the Erskine Bridge, which stretches west and then south towards Ayr and Arran. Many of the walks listed here straddle the rugged hilly terrain which overlooks most of The Firth of Clyde, although some walks glide across very flat land around Ayr and Johnstone.
The routes detailed on this website are scattered across a great distance, from Glasgow to Arran, from inner urban districts to rugged wilderness. All the routes are easily accessible using public transport. They are not just for mountaineering and outdoor enthusiasts - some routes only cover a few miles and can be attempted by busy commuters after a long shift. Some routes exist within conurbations, following roads and trailing through parkland in cities such as Greenock.
